Well though this had been in planning for a year, I has only involved as the OB multicamera director just before the event. We first met up down at the Guildhall Square a few days before.
With 5 stages, 8 cameras, vt play in and 10,000 people, this was going to be quite a complicated operation. So we did a lot of walking around measuring and in particular working out the comms and talkback. Who could talk to whom and how. As the sound towers had to go up before the screens arrived, but needed to be as close as possible, where exactly should they be placed?
So lots of lists and diagrams.

Beautiful weather. The truck arrives and the crew spend some time negotiating it’s way through the clutter.
