I finally finished editing the opening sequence. I wanted to speed it up a bit …so is  25 edits in 20 seconds fast enough?

filming with new fluorescent lighting

Posted by Phil On May - 30 - 2010

I was helping to light a short drama on Saturday and thought I would try out some new low cost  fluorescent lighting.

I recently bought two 120watt fluorescent daylight bulbs (equivalent to 500 watts of conventional lighting). So amost equivalent to a 800 watt redhead with a full blue correction filter on it.

I got them with umbrella reflectors.  They worked well. Matched daylight well. But as I often am using lighting from behind the subject towards the camera then they tend to flare a bit.  …and the light is a bit uncontollable.   BUT the two lamps and stands and reflector umbrella were only about £60.

The other thing that worked well was using one of my led lights taped above the lens as a catchlight for the eyes.
