Project Nim – film review

“Project Nim”  is about the  bizarre project back in the 1970 to raise a chimpanzee as though it was a human baby and teach it sign language.  The sanest  “person” on the project seemed to be the chimpanzee. Most of the scientific researchers seemed to spend more effort shagging each other than they did on conducting scientific research.

And the most heartrending part is when Nim, after having been brought up and nurtured as a human for 7 years, is shockingly sold for Aids research.  …but luckily that’s not the end of the story.   An absorbing, well made documentary
